Hello Family and Friends,

Our time in Zurich is more of a recovery from a busy Munich and preparation for a very busy and hot Rome. In Zurich, we started to feel the effects of the European summer. We spent the majority of our time on the water. On our first day we took a boat cruise around Lake Zurich.

Taking a cruise around Lake Zurich also allowed us to scope out swimming holes. With the weather reaching 90F we definitely needed a water day. We found a local lake club that had diving boards, docks and slides. The water was quite chilly, but perfect for cooling off on a hot day.

While riding throughout town on the tram we spotted a 3D spiderman on the side of a home. Come to found out that you can do a multiple country home tour to spot houses with spiderman.

We did get a chance to sample the Swiss cuisine. It’s very similar to German cuisine with a lot of pork and potatoes, but with one major difference: fondue. The one we tried came with bread and potatoes with an option to add other toppings such as suasage. It was very rich and I’m not sure I’m a fan.

However, where we ate was a very cute and historic area of town. As the sun set, it made for a refreshing stroll.

I would say one difference between Switzerland and Germany is that the Swiss don’t smoke as much as the Germans. Brett swears that all Germans smoke you just don't see them all smoking at the exact same time. It was impossible to escape cigarette smoke in Munich. However, in Zurich we didn’t walk straight into it as often.

Zurich was a quick little pit stop. We weren’t able to get to the Lindt chocolate factory as these tours book out a month in advance. We also weren’t able to get as close to the mountains as we wanted. However, it was a nice stopover on our way to Rome.
