Brussels to Amsterdam via Bike

Hello Family and Friends, We biked from Brussels to Amsterdam, 212km (~131mi). Of course, this was something that Brett came up with out of nowhere. And of course, I laughed at him and said no when he first brought it up. He knew it was a crazy idea when he approached me, because he started with "listen completely before you respond". He worked on me for 3 weeks and on the day we were suppose to be leaving, I had agreed to bike one day and then take the train the rest of the

Lyon, France - (Week 2)

Hello Family and Friends, Second week in Lyon and still not feeling it. Furthermore, Lyon is suppose to be this foodie capital of France and claims gastronomical capital of the world. However, I have yet to find exceptional food. The best meal we have had thus far is Popeyes...in the mall. Now I love me some Popeyes chicken sandwiches, but if that is the best, that is sad. Not only have we not found exceptional food, we have found food that was downright inedible: places we w

Lyon, France - (Week 1)

Hello Family and Friends, We are off to a rough start in Lyon. First things first, finding childcare for Atlas. In France, school is obligatory starting AT three years old regardless of birth date. So similar to our situation when we were in Brussels, there are no daycares for 3 year olds, because they are supposed to be in school. Now that it is September, the school year has started. So now we are looking to enroll Atlas in school, but for only one month. We decide to not e

Amsterdam to Lyon via Paris

Hello Family and Friends, From Amsterdam to Lyon is a 7+ hour train ride. So naturally we stopped half-way in Paris. Atlas enjoying the view on our train ride from Amsterdam to Paris. A little play time and a little snack. Brett was only planning to stay for one night on Paris, but once I found out that we were going to be back in Paris, I wanted at least two nights. Last time we were in Paris, it really worked its magic on me. This time I figured out why I like Paris, it's t

Amsterdam, Netherlands - (Weeks 4, 5 & Ranking)

Hello Family and Friends, We have been here long enough to fall into a regular routine of sorts. Recently I told my sister that our lives are very basic even though we're in the middle of this really cool and unique adventure of travelling the world. Once we settle into a place, we really start to feel what it's like to actually live here. We do really normal things like get Atlas ready for daycare. Atlas snacking on an apple while we are most likely watching some track event

Amsterdam - Week 3

Hello Family and Friends, Since Mom and Dad left, we have been exploring Amsterdam as locals, on bikes. Brett and I went to one of the many bike shops in the city so that Brett could tinker with his bike. Brett loves having a project. If it is not his bike then its a puzzle. An 1000 piece puzzle that Brett completed in 3 days. He likes to think we do it together so he saves me the last few pieces. But when we were at the bike shop, I literally couldn't find parking for my bik

Amsterdam, Netherlands - (Week 1-2)

Hello Family and Friends, We had a successful bike ride from Brussels to Amsterdam. Atlas eating an apple and taking a little rest from the last leg of our bike ride in the lobby of our Amsterdam hotel while we check-in. The day after we arrived we picked up some very special guests from the airport: my parents! Atlas, Brett, Eartha & TV {Mom and Dad) in front of the train station. They are visiting us for 8 days! Mom has met us across the world in Mexico and Japan. However,
